Prime Minister Approves Islamabad-Rawalpindi Rail Car Project
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved a new rail car project aimed at connecting Islamabad and Rawalpindi, calling it a major public welfare initiative. The project is expected to improve daily commuting for residents of the twin cities and surrounding areas.
The announcement was made during the groundbreaking ceremony of the T-Chowk Flyover, where the prime minister instructed Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi to begin work on the project immediately.
Shehbaz Sharif highlighted that the existing railway track would allow the rail car service to be launched quickly. Once operational, the service will not only ease transportation for commuters but also attract tourists visiting the region. The prime minister assured full federal government support for the initiative.
T-Chowk Flyover Inaugurated
During the same event, the prime minister inaugurated the Rs. 1.4 billion T-Chowk Flyover, located at the intersection of Islamabad Expressway and G.T. Road. Expected to be completed in 150 days, the flyover is designed to significantly improve traffic flow for residents of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and nearby localities.
This dual initiative—modernizing traffic infrastructure and launching the rail car service—demonstrates a strong focus on enhancing urban mobility and public convenience in the capital region.
