Govt Likely to Increase Petrol and Diesel Prices This Week

Petroleum Prices Set to Rise in Pakistan from September 16, 2025

Petroleum prices in Pakistan are expected to increase for the next two weeks, effective September 16, 2025, following a surge in global oil markets amid renewed geopolitical tensions.

Revised Fuel Prices (per litre)

  • Petrol: Likely to rise by Rs. 1.54, reaching Rs. 266.15 (up 0.6% from Rs. 264.61).

  • High-Speed Diesel (HSD): Expected to increase by Rs. 4.79, reaching Rs. 274.78 (a 1.8% jump).

  • Kerosene: Projected to climb by Rs. 3.06, to Rs. 179.87.

  • Light Diesel Oil (LDO): May rise by Rs. 3.68, to Rs. 163.44 (up 2.3%).

On September 1, the government had cut diesel prices by Rs. 3 per litre while keeping petrol unchanged.

Reason for the Hike

The latest revision reflects global crude oil price hikes, triggered by disruptions in Russian exports after Ukrainian drone strikes targeted the Primorsk port, a key hub on the Baltic Sea.

👉 Consumers, especially those in the transport and agriculture sectors, are likely to feel the immediate impact of these changes.
