The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a weather warning for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), forecasting intermittent rainfall and thunderstorms from September 16 to 19, 2025.
Districts on High Alert
According to the advisory, several districts including Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Swabi, Peshawar, and Kohat are expected to receive heavy downpours accompanied by gusty winds.
Flash Floods and Landslide Risks
The PDMA has cautioned that the upcoming weather may cause:
-
A rise in river and stream water levels, leading to possible flash floods.
-
Increased chances of landslides in mountainous areas such as Swat, Mansehra, Battagram, and Abbottabad.
-
Damage to weak housing structures, electricity poles, billboards, and solar panels due to strong winds.
Citizens have been urged to avoid unnecessary travel, while tourists have been advised not to visit hilly regions during this period.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) confirmed that monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea are moving into northern Pakistan. This system is likely to bring rain to:
-
Kashmir
-
Gilgit-Baltistan
-
Islamabad
-
Various parts of Punjab between September 15 and 19.
Meanwhile:
-
Sindh is expected to remain hot and dry, with cloudy intervals along coastal areas.

Emergency Measures in Place
The PDMA has activated its emergency helpline and instructed all district administrations to remain on high alert.
Earlier this week, the PMD also warned Sindh of a developing monsoon system that has now intensified into a deep depression, with the potential to bring over 100mm of rain within the next 12 to 24 hours, raising concerns about urban flooding.
