Massive Explosion at Tennessee Explosives Plant Leaves Multiple Dead, Several Missing
October 10, 2025
TENNESSEE (USA): A powerful explosion at the Accurate Energetic Systems explosives plant in Bucksnort, Hickman County has left multiple people dead and several others missing, local authorities confirmed on Friday.
The Hickman County Sheriff’s Office reported that emergency services rushed to the scene after the blast shook the area early Friday morning. “We can confirm there has been an explosion at Accurate Energetic Systems. Emergency services are on-site managing the situation,” the department said in a statement.
While officials have yet to determine the exact cause of the explosion, Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis described the incident as a “very devastating blast” that completely destroyed a building within the facility.
“We have confirmed fatalities, and several people are still unaccounted for,” Davis said, adding that authorities were working carefully to notify families and secure the area due to the risk of smaller follow-up explosions.
Hickman County Mayor Jim Bates told CNN that the plant had no major safety issues in recent years, though a smaller blast in 2014 had claimed one life and injured three others.
Founded in 1980, Accurate Energetic Systems manufactures and stores explosives for military, aerospace, and commercial demolition industries. The company’s 1,300-acre site in Bucksnort features eight production buildings and a quality testing laboratory.
Officials have urged the public to avoid the area as investigation and rescue operations continue. The company has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.
⚠️ Authorities say the situation remains fluid and updates will be shared as more details emerge.
