Renowned Bollywood actor Govinda was rushed to a private hospital in Mumbai’s upscale Juhu area early Wednesday morning after he reportedly collapsed at home, according to multiple Indian media outlets.
The 61-year-old star, best known for his comedy hits and energetic dance moves, was taken to the hospital around 1am, where he was kept under close medical supervision.
According to NDTV, Govinda’s lawyer Lalit Bindal said the actor had taken medication on Tuesday night following a phone consultation with doctors. Shortly after, he became disoriented and collapsed. He was immediately taken to the hospital, where doctors began running several tests to determine the cause.
Govinda’s manager, Shashi Sinha, told ANI that doctors were monitoring his condition closely and that further medical decisions would be made after reviewing the test results. “He was conscious and responding well,” she confirmed.
Later in the day, the Hindustan Times reported that Govinda was discharged from the hospital after doctors confirmed he was stable. Speaking to the media outside the facility, the veteran actor assured fans that he was feeling much better and thanked everyone for their concern.
Earlier this week, Govinda was seen visiting veteran actor Dharmendra at another Mumbai hospital after reports surfaced about Dharmendra’s deteriorating health. Rumors of the senior actor’s passing were later denied by his family, confirming that he was recovering well.
This marks the second hospitalisation for Govinda in just over a year. Last year, the actor made headlines after accidentally shooting himself in the knee while handling his licensed firearm. He underwent surgery and made a full recovery after a three-day hospital stay.
Fans across India have taken to social media to send their prayers and well wishes to the beloved Hero No. 1 star.
