Russian Missile and Drone Strikes Hit Ukraine, Killing at Least 16

KYIV, Ukraine — A large-scale wave of missile and drone attacks struck multiple cities across Ukraine, including Kyiv, Odesa, and Dnipro, resulting in at least 16 deaths and more than 100 injuries, according to Ukrainian officials.

Authorities described the assault as one of the most intense aerial attacks in recent weeks, involving hundreds of drones along with dozens of missiles targeting residential and civilian areas.

Widespread Damage Across Cities

Emergency services reported extensive destruction in several regions, with residential buildings, vehicles, and infrastructure damaged or destroyed. Firefighters worked through the night in affected areas to control fires and assist survivors.

In Kyiv, residents were forced to take shelter as explosions were heard across the city. Many homes were left without windows and significant structural damage was reported in multiple neighborhoods.

Eyewitness Accounts

Residents described moments of panic as the strikes continued for hours. One Kyiv resident said multiple explosions near her home caused severe damage, forcing her and her pet dog to seek shelter inside the building’s hallway during the attacks.

She said the repeated blasts caused widespread destruction and left her family searching for pets that fled during the chaos.

Scale of the Attack

Ukrainian officials stated that nearly 700 drones and multiple ballistic and cruise missiles were launched in the operation, making it one of the largest aerial strikes in recent weeks.

The attacks come amid ongoing conflict that has continued for more than four years, with repeated strikes affecting civilian infrastructure across the country.

Civilian Impact

International organizations have repeatedly raised concerns about the impact of the conflict on civilians. According to United Nations estimates, thousands of civilians have been killed since the start of the war, with many more injured or displaced.

Ongoing Situation

Authorities continue to assess damage and provide emergency assistance in affected regions as rescue operations continue. Officials have urged residents in targeted areas to remain alert and follow safety instructions.
