Betis Score Late Equalizer as Real Madrid Drop Crucial Points in La Liga Title Race

Real Betis earned a dramatic stoppage-time equalizer to hold Real Madrid to a 1–1 draw on Friday, dealing a setback to Madrid’s hopes of winning the La Liga title.

The result leaves Real Madrid eight points behind league leaders FC Barcelona with only five matches remaining in the season, while Barcelona still have a game in hand.

Real Madrid took the lead in the first half when Vinícius Júnior scored after a rebound from a long-range effort by Federico Valverde. The Brazilian forward reacted quickly inside the box to put his team ahead.

Despite conceding early, Real Betis remained competitive throughout the match. Goalkeeper Álvaro Valles made several key saves to keep his side in the game, while Madrid also had a goal from Kylian Mbappé ruled out for offside.

The match remained tightly contested until stoppage time, when Betis found the equalizer. After Real Madrid appealed for a foul that was not given, Héctor Bellerín finished calmly from close range to level the score and secure a point for the home side.

The result continues a difficult run of form for Real Madrid, who have now dropped points in several recent matches, increasing pressure in the closing stages of the title race.

Real Betis remain in a strong position in the league standings as the season approaches its final rounds.
