Pakistan to Host Two Major ITF Women’s Tennis Events in 2026

The Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) has announced that Pakistan will host two international women’s tennis tournaments later this year, marking an important milestone for the country’s tennis development.

The events, part of the ITF W15 Women’s Futures circuit, are scheduled to begin on October 5, 2026, in Islamabad, ahead of the Billie Jean King Cup.

Historic Back-to-Back Tournaments

According to officials, this will be the first time Pakistan hosts two consecutive ITF W15 Women’s Futures tournaments. The development is being seen as a significant step forward for women’s tennis in the country.

The initiative reflects the PTF’s ongoing efforts to provide international playing opportunities on home soil and support the growth of women’s tennis.

Support for Local Players

PTF President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi said the federation previously focused on providing opportunities for male players through ITF Men’s Futures events. He added that the new women’s tournaments will help female athletes gain ranking points and international experience without the burden of foreign travel.

Several emerging and established players, including young talents from across Pakistan, are expected to benefit from the competition.

Development of Women’s Tennis

The Pakistan Women’s Tennis Association, established in 2024, continues to play a role in promoting and supporting women’s tennis in the country.

Association President Asma Khawar Khawaja said the upcoming tournaments will help strengthen Pakistan’s position in international tennis and contribute to the development of future champions.

A Major Step for Pakistani Tennis

PTF Secretary General Zia-ud-Din Tufail described the hosting of back-to-back ITF events as a major achievement, noting that it will provide valuable international exposure to local players while promoting tennis at the national level.
