Solar System Prices Increase Ahead of Federal Budget Announcement

Prices of residential solar energy systems have risen in Pakistan as market participants respond to uncertainty ahead of the upcoming federal budget.

According to industry estimates, the cost of on-grid solar systems ranging from 5kW to 15kW has increased significantly in recent days, with some system categories seeing price adjustments of up to Rs. 200,000.

Market sources indicate that a typical 5kW on-grid solar system is now priced around Rs. 650,000, while a 7kW system is being offered at approximately Rs. 825,000.

Similarly, the average price of a 10kW system has increased to around Rs. 1.1 million. Larger installations have also seen upward revisions, with 12kW systems reaching about Rs. 1.25 million and 15kW systems being quoted at nearly Rs. 1.45 million.

Industry observers note that the reported figures relate to on-grid solar systems only. Consumers interested in off-grid or hybrid solutions may face additional expenses due to the inclusion of battery storage and related equipment.

The recent price movement comes as businesses and consumers await details of the federal budget, which may include policy decisions affecting the renewable energy sector.

Pakistan has witnessed growing interest in solar energy in recent years as households and businesses seek alternative energy solutions and greater energy efficiency. Changes in market demand, import costs, currency fluctuations, and regulatory developments can all influence solar system pricing.

Experts advise consumers considering solar installations to compare quotations from multiple vendors, review equipment specifications carefully, and stay informed about any policy announcements that could impact costs or incentives.

Further market adjustments may occur once the federal budget is announced and stakeholders gain greater clarity regarding future measures affecting the solar energy industry.
