Apple Introduces New Features in iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 Beyond AI Enhancements

Apple has officially previewed iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 during its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), introducing a range of updates focused on design, performance, accessibility, and productivity.

The new operating systems are currently available to developers, while a public beta is expected next month. The full release is planned for later this year.

Refined Liquid Glass Design

Apple is expanding its Liquid Glass design language with additional customization options. Users will be able to adjust interface transparency through a dedicated control, allowing for a more personalized visual experience.

The company also says it has improved contrast, visual clarity, and interface consistency across the system. App icons have been refined to provide a sharper appearance.

Faster Performance and Improved Efficiency

iOS 27 includes several performance-focused improvements designed to enhance the overall user experience.

According to Apple, app launches, photo loading, and file-sharing processes have been optimized. The update also introduces improvements to network transitions between Wi-Fi and cellular connections, along with system-level enhancements intended to improve responsiveness.

Updates to Mail and Accessibility Features

The Mail app will feature an upgraded search system designed to prioritize the most relevant results.

Apple is also expanding accessibility tools through VoiceOver. New capabilities include enhanced image descriptions, support for additional device controls, and improved subtitle generation for video content. Translation support for captions in multiple languages is also being introduced.

Shared Albums Become More Flexible

iCloud Shared Albums will gain broader compatibility, allowing users on Android and Windows devices to participate and contribute photos.

Apple is also adding support for sharing images in full resolution, making collaboration easier for families and groups across different platforms.

Maps and Fitness Enhancements

The Maps application is receiving updates to its Flyover experience, providing more detailed visual exploration of supported locations.

Additionally, GymKit support is being expanded to work with compatible fitness equipment, allowing users to connect supported Apple devices during workouts.

New Features in iPadOS 27

iPadOS 27 introduces additional tools for organizing and sharing media. Users will be able to create customized slideshows using photos and videos, with options to adjust transitions, duration, and background music.

The update also improves synchronization for notifications and unread message counts, helping maintain consistency across devices.

Calendar management is becoming more intuitive as well, with users able to create and edit events using natural language descriptions.

Faster External Storage Support

Apple says file browsing and transfers between iPads and external storage devices have been significantly improved in iPadOS 27, providing faster access to files and enhanced productivity for users working with large amounts of data.
