The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has approved funding to develop 12 additional cricket grounds across the country as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen cricket infrastructure and support domestic player development.

The decision was made during the 84th meeting of the PCB Board of Governors in Lahore, chaired by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi. During the meeting, the board also unanimously approved the surplus budget for the 2026–27 financial year.

According to available details, the approved funding will cover the development of the new cricket grounds, along with staffing and maintenance requirements to ensure the facilities remain operational.

The initiative is aimed at expanding opportunities for domestic cricket by providing more venues for matches, training sessions, and talent development programs across Pakistan.

The latest announcement follows the PCB’s continued investment in cricket infrastructure at both regional and national levels. Earlier, the board announced plans to work with the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to upgrade several cricket grounds in Islamabad, including improvements to pitches, ground maintenance, and supporting facilities.

The Board of Governors also approved Rs. 6.7 billion for infrastructure projects, including upgrades to the National Bank Cricket Stadium in Karachi and other cricket-related developments across the country.

In addition, the PCB increased its annual budget for domestic cricket from Rs. 3 billion to Rs. 4 billion for the 2026–27 fiscal year, reflecting its continued focus on strengthening the domestic cricket system.

The latest measures are expected to improve cricket facilities, expand playing opportunities, and support the long-term development of players throughout Pakistan.
