Jude Bellingham delivered another outstanding performance as England defeated Norway 2-1 after extra time on Saturday to secure a place in the FIFA World Cup semi-finals.
The Real Madrid midfielder scored both of England’s goals, including the decisive winner early in extra time, helping the Three Lions reach the last four of the tournament for the first time since the 2018 World Cup.
England supporters celebrated the victory by singing “Hey Jude” as Bellingham and captain Harry Kane acknowledged the crowd after the final whistle.
Norway took the lead through its attacking efforts, but Bellingham responded with a first-half equalizer to keep England in the contest. After neither side could find a winner during normal time, the match went into extra time.
Just three minutes into the additional period, Bellingham struck again, scoring the winning goal that booked England’s place in the semi-finals.
The 23-year-old midfielder continues to enjoy an impressive tournament and has now scored six goals, matching teammate Harry Kane’s tally. Norway’s star striker Erling Haaland was unable to score as England’s defense kept him quiet throughout the match.
England, whose only World Cup title came in 1966, is now just one victory away from reaching another World Cup final. The Three Lions will face defending champions Argentina in a highly anticipated semi-final clash.
