Petrol Pumps Across Pakistan Announce Indefinite Shutdown From Wednesday

The All Pakistan Petroleum Pump Owners Association has announced that petrol pumps across Pakistan are expected to close indefinitely starting at 12:00 AM on Wednesday, following unsuccessful negotiations with the government over the proposed daily fuel price adjustment mechanism.

According to Association Chairman Humayun Khan, petrol pump owners requested that the government continue the existing monthly petroleum price revision system instead of introducing daily price changes. He said that frequent price adjustments could create operational challenges for fuel retailers and increase business uncertainty.

The association also expressed concerns that the new policy was introduced without sufficient consultation with petrol pump owners. Representatives urged the government to engage in constructive discussions to address the issues faced by fuel dealers.

Vice Chairman Nauman Ali Butt confirmed that talks with the Petroleum Minister did not lead to an agreement. He stated that the association remains opposed to the proposed daily pricing system and is also seeking a review of dealer commission rates.

Following the unsuccessful negotiations, the association announced an indefinite nationwide shutdown of petrol pumps beginning Wednesday. The strike is expected to continue until meaningful discussions take place and their concerns are addressed.
