PMD Forecasts More Monsoon Rains Across Pakistan
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more monsoon rainfall across several parts of the country over the coming days due to a low-pressure weather system affecting the region.
According to the Met Office, the low-pressure area is currently located over southwestern Rajasthan and adjoining areas, allowing monsoon currents to strengthen across southern and central Pakistan.
Sindh
Rain and thunderstorms, including isolated heavy falls, are expected in several districts, including Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Sanghar, Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Khairpur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, Shikarpur, Qambar Shahdadkot, Naushahro Feroze, Thatta, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, and Matiari from July 24 to July 27, with occasional breaks.
Karachi may also receive rain or thunderstorms on July 25 and 26.
Punjab and Islamabad
Rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms are expected in Lahore, Sheikhupura, Okara, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Vehari, Khanewal, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Kot Addu, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, and Khanpur between July 24 and 27.
Light to moderate rainfall is also forecast for Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Sialkot, Narowal, Jhang, Chiniot, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Khushab, Toba Tek Singh, and Nankana Sahib through July 26.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
Rain and thunderstorms are likely in Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Charsadda, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Haripur, Swat, Dir, Chitral, Kohistan, Malakand, Buner, Shangla, Battagram, Kohat, Karak, Kurram, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Lakki Marwat, Waziristan, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, and Hangu from July 24 to 27.
Gilgit-Baltistan
Cloudy weather with rain and thunderstorms is expected in Gilgit, Hunza, Skardu, Diamer, Astore, Ghizer, Ghanche, and Shigar from July 24 to 26.
Azad Jammu and Kashmir
Rain and thunderstorms are forecast for Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Rawalakot, Poonch, Bagh, Hattian Bala, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, and Mirpur between July 24 and 28.
Balochistan
Rain, thunderstorms, and isolated heavy showers are expected in Zhob, Sherani, Loralai, Kohlu, Sibi, Naseerabad, Jhal Magsi, Jaffarabad, Barkhan, Dera Bugti, Awaran, and Khuzdar from July 24 to 27.
Possible Impacts
The PMD has warned that heavy rainfall may lead to urban flooding in low-lying areas of cities including Lahore, Gujranwala, Multan, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, Hyderabad, Shaheed Benazirabad, Thatta, Badin, Sanghar, Khairpur, Mirpurkhas, Mithi, Umerkot, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, and Sialkot between July 24 and 26.
Strong winds and lightning may also affect weak structures such as temporary installations, signboards, electric poles, and solar panel setups.

The Met Office has advised:

- Farmers to plan agricultural activities according to weather conditions and ensure the safety of livestock during the forecast period.
