PPP, PML-N Exchange Statements Over AJK Election Campaign

The political exchange between the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) continued on Wednesday as leaders from both parties criticized each other during the ongoing Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) election campaign.

The latest remarks came after the first phase of the AJK Legislative Assembly elections, where PML-N secured nine seats, while PPP won four seats in the Mirpur division.

Maryam Nawaz Responds to Criticism

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz dismissed allegations of electoral irregularities made against her party. In a statement shared on social media, she criticized the PPP’s claims and defended PML-N’s position regarding the election process.

Bilawal Addresses Public Gathering

Speaking at a public gathering in Muzaffarabad ahead of the second phase of the AJK elections scheduled for August 2, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari criticized PML-N’s political record and called for transparent elections.

Bilawal also encouraged political parties, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), to participate in the electoral process, saying that public participation is important for a healthy democratic system.

Election Campaign Continues

Political campaigning is expected to continue in the lead-up to the next phase of voting, with major parties presenting their positions and seeking public support across Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The remaining stages of the election are scheduled to take place in the coming days under the supervision of the relevant election authorities.
