Punjab Masstransit Authority Clarifies Metro and Orange Line Ticketing System
LAHORE: The Punjab Masstransit Authority (PMA) has clarified recent reports regarding changes to the ticketing system for public transport services, confirming that the new digital ticketing system currently applies only to selected transport networks.
According to the authority, there has been no change to the ticketing system of the Orange Line Metro Train, and passengers can continue using the existing payment method.
New Digital Ticketing for Metrobus, Speedo and EV Buses
The PMA stated that the previous ticketing system has been replaced for Metrobus, Speedo, and Electric Bus (EV Bus) services.
Passengers using these services are now required to pay fares through the T-Cash Card or the eTransit App, which have been introduced as part of the province’s digital fare collection system.
The authority said the new system is intended to provide a more convenient and efficient travel experience for commuters.
Orange Line Ticketing Remains Unchanged
The PMA emphasized that the Orange Line Metro Train continues to operate with its existing ticketing system.
Officials clarified that reports suggesting the Orange Line had also shifted to the new digital payment system are incorrect.
Passengers using the Orange Line can continue purchasing and using tickets as before until any official changes are announced.
Public Asked to Rely on Official Information
The authority has urged media organizations, digital platforms, and members of the public to verify information before sharing reports related to public transport services.
Officials advised commuters to follow updates released through the Punjab Masstransit Authority’s official communication channels for accurate information regarding ticketing and transport services.
Future Changes Will Be Announced Officially
The PMA stated that if any changes are introduced to the Orange Line Metro Train’s ticketing system in the future, they will be announced through the authority’s official platforms.
The clarification aims to address public confusion following the rollout of the new digital ticketing system for selected public transport services across Punjab.
