Morocco and Nigeria Win 2026 African Beach Volleyball Titles

Morocco’s men’s team and Nigeria’s women’s team secured continental titles at the 2026 CAVB African Beach Volleyball Championship and earned Olympic quota places for the LA28 Olympic Games.

The tournament was held in Alexandria, Egypt, with the finals taking place on Saturday, August 22.

Morocco Retain Men’s African Title

Morocco continued their strong record in African beach volleyball as Zouheir Elgraoui and Soufiane El Gharouti won the men’s competition.

The second-seeded Moroccan pair defeated Algeria’s Kallouche Mohamed-Islem and Ayyoub Dekkiche in straight sets, winning 21-19, 21-12.

The victory gave Morocco their fourth consecutive men’s African title.

Morocco has now won every men’s continental championship since 2017, further strengthening its position at the top of African beach volleyball.

Tunisia Take Men’s Bronze

Tunisia secured the men’s bronze medal after Amine Lengliz and Adem Elmeddeb defeated Angola’s Carlos Muondo and Eduardo Hélio Albano Afonso.

The Tunisian pair won the match in straight sets, 21-18, 21-16.

Nigeria Win Women’s Competition

Nigeria also celebrated a major achievement after teenagers Esther Onyinye Mbah and Pamela Miyoum Bawa won the women’s continental title.

Their victory earned Nigeria an Olympic quota for LA28, making the Nigerian women’s pair among the first African beach volleyball teams to secure qualification places for the 2028 Olympic Games.

Olympic Qualification Note

The quota places are awarded to the National Olympic Committees (NOCs). The final selection of athletes who will represent each country at LA28 will be made by their respective NOCs.

The Moroccan and Nigerian victories therefore mark an important milestone for African beach volleyball as teams begin their journey toward the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
