Asian Games 2026: Chen Yujie Claims Third Medal as China Retain 4x100m Relay Titles

China successfully defended both the men’s and women’s 4x100m relay titles at the Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 on Monday, with 17-year-old sprinter Chen Yujie adding another medal to her impressive Games debut.

Chen completed a memorable three-day run by helping China win the women’s 4x100m relay. The victory gave the teenager her third medal of the Asian Games, following gold in the 100m and silver in the 200m.

Chen Yujie Continues Impressive Asian Games Debut

Chen made a strong start to her first Asian Games by winning the women’s 100m title in a Games-record time. She then secured silver in the 200m before returning to the track for the relay final.

The young sprinter anchored China’s quartet to victory in 42.96 seconds, helping the team successfully retain its Asian Games title.

Speaking after the race, Chen said her experience competing in several individual finals had increased her confidence in the relay team.

She explained that she trusted her teammates to build a strong lead before the final leg and praised the unity within the national relay squad.

Young Chinese Relay Team Delivers Gold

Chen joined China’s national team in 2024 at the age of 15. She said nearly three years of training with the relay squad had helped her understand the importance of teamwork.

According to Chen, every member of the team is focused on the same goal and contributes fully toward winning the gold medal.

With two gold medals and one silver already secured, Chen has made a notable impact at her first Asian Games and remains one of the young athletes attracting attention at the Aichi-Nagoya event.
