Punjab Approves Nearly Rs. 1 Billion for Eight Road Projects in Sargodha
The Punjab government has approved eight road development schemes in Sargodha district with a combined estimated cost of nearly Rs. 1 billion.
The projects, approved by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif under the Own Source Revenue initiative, will focus on the construction, rehabilitation and improvement of roads and related infrastructure across the district.
Major Road Projects Approved
According to details released by the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, several roads in Sargodha city will be constructed or rehabilitated at a cost of Rs. 175.79 million.
The package includes Dairy Road, Azad Road, New Urdu Bazaar Road, Grain Market Road, Pilot School Road and Ara Market Road.
The government has also allocated Rs. 88.981 million for the rehabilitation of the Khayam Chowk Overhead Bridge.
Another major project involves the road connecting Johar Colony Road with Fatima Jinnah Road through Gillwala Railway Crossing and Haripurah Bridge. The scheme has an estimated cost of Rs. 228.674 million.
Additional Road Rehabilitation Work
The road from Shama Chowk to Stadium Gate, along with the link road to Cheema Heart Centre, will be rehabilitated at a cost of Rs. 164.645 million.
Meanwhile, Rs. 127.715 million has been allocated for the rehabilitation of Main Bazaar Bhagtanwala Road and the Lahore Road-Bhirowal-Kot Momin Link Road.
In Shahpur, the Jail Road to Shahpur Saddar Road will be improved at an estimated cost of Rs. 98.888 million. Another Rs. 56.684 million has been approved for rehabilitation work on Farooka Road to Sial Dhulaka Road.
A separate Rs. 60 million beautification scheme will also cover interchanges along Sial Mor Road.
Expected Benefits for Residents
Deputy Commissioner Sargodha Hussain Ahmad Raza Chaudhry said the projects are expected to strengthen the district’s road infrastructure and improve traffic movement.
He added that the upgraded roads would provide more convenient and safer travelling facilities for residents while improving transportation links between urban and rural areas.
