Lahore to Begin Kite Manufacturing Licensing Process Next Week

Lahore is preparing to launch the licensing process for kite-related businesses next week as the Punjab government moves ahead with preparations for Basant 2027.

The decision was discussed during a meeting chaired by Punjab Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb. During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner Lahore provided an update on the arrangements being made for the upcoming festival.

Maryam Aurangzeb said the district administration has completed preparations for the Basant Portal, which is expected to become operational next week.

Basant Portal to Accept Kite Manufacturer Applications

During the first phase, the Basant Portal will allow kite manufacturers to submit applications for licenses. Kite production will only be permitted once the required approvals and licenses have been obtained.

The licensing system will also cover kite sellers and kite-string manufacturers. According to the government, regulating string production will help maintain an adequate supply during the festival.

Officials are working on the licensing process in advance to ensure that businesses have sufficient time to prepare for Basant 2027 while following the required rules and regulations.

Maryam Aurangzeb is expected to announce the final launch date of the Basant Portal along with the date when licensed kite manufacturing can officially begin.

The Punjab government is taking these steps as part of its broader preparations for Basant 2027, with a focus on organized arrangements and regulated kite-related activities.
