Tijuana and Tabasco Set to Clash in Mexican Baseball League Final

The Tijuana Toros and Tabasco Olmecas are set to compete for the 2026 Mexican Baseball League (LMB) championship in the best-of-seven Serie del Rey.
The championship series will begin on Wednesday, September 9, at Toros Mobil Park in Tijuana, home of the Northern Division champions.
Tijuana Return to the Championship Series
The Toros have reached the Serie del Rey for the fourth time since 2016 and will look to use their home advantage to begin the final on a strong note.
Tijuana will send right-handed pitcher Daniel Martinez to the mound for the opening game. The 28-year-old developed within the Oakland Athletics’ farm system and has remained unbeaten in the playoffs, posting a 3-0 record.
Tabasco will counter with experienced left-hander Austin Werner. The 32-year-old pitcher has previously competed at the Triple-A level in the United States and will be tasked with helping the Olmecas make a strong start to the series.
Olmecas Make Long-Awaited Return
The Southern Division champions are appearing in the Serie del Rey for the first time since 1993.
The matchup between Tijuana and Tabasco is also a new championship pairing in Mexican Baseball League history, adding further interest to this year’s final.
With both teams coming from different divisions and bringing contrasting postseason experiences, the seven-game series promises a competitive battle for the league title.
