WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup 2026: USA and China Set for Play-Off Clash

The play-off schedule for the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup 2026 has been confirmed after the completion of the Opening Round in Oklahoma City.
The United States finished at the top of the standings with a perfect 5-0 record, while China secured second place with four victories from five games.
The Netherlands and Mexico also advanced to the play-offs after finishing third and fourth respectively.
USA Complete Perfect Opening Round
The United States ended the Opening Round with an impressive 7-0 victory over China in six innings.
Skylar Wallace produced a standout performance, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs to earn Player of the Day honors.
Pitchers Alexis Kilfoyl and Kelly Maxwell combined for a two-hit shutout as the USA maintained their unbeaten record.
China finished the Opening Round with a 4-1 record after suffering their only defeat against the Americans.
USA vs China Play-Off
The USA and China will meet again on Wednesday at 13:00 in the 1st-vs-2nd Play-Off.
The winner of this match will secure the first available place in the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Finals 2027.
China will look to respond after being shut out by the USA in their previous meeting, while the Americans will aim to maintain their unbeaten run.
Netherlands and Mexico Face Elimination
The Netherlands finished third with a 3-2 record and will face fourth-placed Mexico, who ended the Opening Round at 2-3.
Their elimination game is scheduled for 16:00 on Wednesday.
The winner will move into the repechage and face the loser of the USA-China play-off at 19:00 for the second qualification spot for the 2027 World Cup Finals.
Netherlands Beat Brazil
The Netherlands secured their place in the play-offs with a 6-1 win over Brazil.
Sterre den Duijn led the Dutch offense, going 3-for-3 with four RBIs, including a three-run home run.
The Netherlands broke the deadlock with four runs in the third inning before adding another run in the fifth.
Brazil scored once in the sixth through an RBI single from Gabby Coffey, but the Netherlands responded with another run to complete the victory.
J’dah Girigorie delivered a strong pitching performance, completing the game while allowing one run on five hits. She also recorded nine strikeouts without issuing a walk.
China Edge Mexico in Walk-Off Finish
China secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over Mexico to remain unbeaten heading into their final Opening Round game against the USA.
Mexico took the lead in the second inning after Makayla Medellin reached base and later scored on an RBI single from Alexia Lopez.
China struggled to generate offense for much of the game, but Lu Xing tied the contest with a home run over the center-field fence in the sixth inning.
The game-winning moment came in the bottom of the seventh when Sang Yujjuan singled home pinch runner Lu Xiaomin.
The result gave China their second consecutive 2-1 walk-off victory.
Chai Yinan completed the game for China, allowing one run on five hits and three walks while striking out six batters.
New Zealand Defeat Brazil
New Zealand ended their Opening Round campaign with their first victory, beating Brazil 17-2 in four innings.
New Zealand scored 15 runs in the second inning to take control of the contest.
The result left New Zealand fifth in the standings with a 1-4 record, while Brazil finished sixth at 0-5.
New Zealand and Brazil will meet again in the fifth-place game on Wednesday at 10:00.

The winner of the 1st-vs-2nd Play-Off will qualify directly for the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Finals 2027. The remaining qualification spot will be decided through the repechage.
