The 2026 US Open Tennis Championships will enter its penultimate stage on Friday, September 11, with both men’s singles semi-finals scheduled at Flushing Meadows in New York.

The tournament is being held from August 30 to September 13, with only one round remaining before the men’s singles championship match at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Sunday.

Zverev Faces Khachanov in First Semi-Final

The opening men’s singles semi-final will feature top seed Alexander Zverev against unseeded Karen Khachanov.

The match will bring back memories of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, where Zverev defeated Khachanov in the men’s singles gold-medal match in 2021.

Zverev has also enjoyed the better record in their previous meetings, winning six of their nine encounters.

The German star will be looking to strengthen his recent form against Khachanov and secure his place in the US Open final.

Shelton and Tiafoe Meet in All-American Clash

The second semi-final will be an all-American contest between eighth seed Ben Shelton and 11th seed Frances Tiafoe.

The match is scheduled for the night session, giving American tennis fans a highly anticipated home showdown under the lights at the US Open.

Shelton currently leads their head-to-head record 3-1.

Regardless of the result, the match guarantees an American player will reach the US Open final.

A First Grand Slam Final Awaits

Both Shelton and Tiafoe will be bidding to reach a Grand Slam singles final for the first time.

Their semi-final therefore carries additional significance, with the winner set to make his debut in a major championship match.

The result will also ensure a home finalist at the final Grand Slam tournament of the 2026 season.

US Open Day 13 Schedule

Friday’s action represents Day 13 of the 2026 US Open and will focus on the men’s singles semi-finals.

Men’s Singles Semi-Finals

First Semi-Final:
Alexander Zverev (1) vs Karen Khachanov

Second Semi-Final:
Ben Shelton (8) vs Frances Tiafoe (11)

The winners of the two matches will advance to the men’s singles final on Sunday, September 13, where they will compete for the US Open title.

All Eyes on Arthur Ashe Stadium

With the tournament approaching its conclusion, Friday’s semi-finals are expected to attract significant attention as four players battle for the two remaining places in the championship match.

Zverev will aim to continue his run as the top seed, while Khachanov will look to repeat the type of strong performance that has carried him through the draw.

Meanwhile, Shelton and Tiafoe will compete for the opportunity to become the latest American player to reach a Grand Slam final on home soil.
