Petrol Pump Owners Seek Clarity on Rs. 100 Per Litre Fuel Subsidy
Petrol pump owners have raised concerns over the government’s newly announced Rs. 100 per litre fuel subsidy, saying they have not yet received clear information about how the relief amount will be paid.
The All Pakistan Petrol Pump Owners Association has said the lack of details could create confusion at petrol stations and potentially lead to disputes between customers and pump operators.
Petrol Dealers Await Payment Mechanism
Association Chairman Humayun Khan said petrol pump owners had not been properly informed about the subsidy or the process through which they would receive the amount.
He said the absence of clear instructions could make it difficult for petrol stations to implement the scheme smoothly.
Association General Secretary Nauman Butt also questioned how the government plans to transfer the subsidy to petrol pump owners.
According to him, while the government has announced the Rs. 100 per litre relief, the payment mechanism for petrol dealers has not yet been explained.
Who Can Receive the Rs. 100 Fuel Subsidy?
The government has introduced the Rs. 100 per litre subsidy for eligible noncommercial users, including:
- Motorcycles
- Rickshaws
- Other two- and three-wheelers
- Cars with engines of up to 800cc
The scheme was initially launched in Islamabad and is now being expanded nationwide.
Monthly Fuel Limits Under the Scheme
The subsidy will apply to a specific monthly fuel limit depending on the type of vehicle.
Owners of motorcycles, rickshaws and other eligible two- and three-wheelers can receive the subsidy on up to 20 litres of petrol per month.
For eligible cars with engines of up to 800cc, the subsidy will cover up to 30 litres per month.
The government has designed the initiative for noncommercial users as part of its fuel relief measures.
Petrol Pump Owners Want Clear Guidelines
Petrol pump owners are seeking detailed instructions on how the subsidy will be processed and reimbursed.
The association has indicated that clear payment procedures will be important to prevent confusion at fuel stations once the nationwide rollout becomes fully operational.
Further clarification from the government is expected to explain how petrol dealers will receive the subsidy amount and how transactions will be handled at petrol pumps.
