PTI MPA Uses Donkey Cart to Reach Sindh Assembly in Fuel Price Protest
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPA Sajjad Ali Soomro traveled to the Sindh Assembly on a donkey cart as part of a protest against rising fuel prices.
Soomro, accompanied by other PTI members, traveled on donkey carts from an area near the assembly building to its main entrance. The protesters carried placards and chanted slogans highlighting their concerns over higher petroleum prices.
Protest Highlights Fuel Price Concerns
Soomro said the unusual form of protest was intended to draw attention to the impact of rising fuel costs on ordinary citizens.
He claimed that petrol prices had increased to a level where even lawmakers were finding it difficult to use their vehicles for travel to the provincial assembly.
The protesters called on the federal government to withdraw the fuel price increase and introduce measures to provide financial relief to consumers.
Sindh Assembly Passes Resolution on Petroleum Levy
The protest follows recent discussions in the Sindh Assembly over petroleum prices.
The assembly had unanimously passed a resolution calling for the abolition of the petroleum levy and measures to provide relief to consumers. The resolution was moved by Jamaat-e-Islami lawmaker Muhammad Farooq.
Sindh Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar said that matters concerning petroleum prices and related federal measures fall under the jurisdiction of the federal government.
Assembly Also Opposes Daily Fuel Price Increases
The Sindh Assembly has also adopted a separate resolution calling for an end to the practice of daily increases in petroleum prices.
The latest protest by PTI lawmakers adds to the ongoing debate over fuel prices and their impact on households, businesses and public representatives.
