Algeria Come From Behind to Beat Jordan 2-1 and End World Cup Debut Campaign

Algeria produced a strong second-half comeback to defeat World Cup debutants Jordan 2-1, securing an important group-stage victory in the tournament.

Jordan took the lead in the first half after Nizar Al-Rashdan finished from close range following a well-worked attacking move. Algeria, however, improved significantly after the break and responded with greater attacking pressure.

Substitute Nadhir Benbouali equalised in the 69th minute with a header from a corner, bringing Algeria back into the match. Later, Amine Gouiri scored the decisive goal after a scramble in the penalty area, sealing all three points for his team.

Key Moments

Algeria created several chances throughout the match, with Riyad Mahrez playing a key role in attack and providing the assist for the equaliser from a corner kick.

Jordan goalkeeper Yazeed Abu Laila made important saves but could not prevent Algeria’s late pressure from turning the game around.

Group Standings Impact

The result keeps Algeria level on points in their group, while Jordan’s defeat confirms their elimination from the tournament after their debut World Cup campaign.

Algeria will now face Austria in their final group match, while Jordan will play their remaining fixture against Argentina.

The match sets up an important final round of group-stage games as teams continue their push for qualification to the knockout stage.
