Britain, Germany and Spain Secure Davis Cup Finals Spots

Great Britain, Germany and Spain have secured places in the Davis Cup Finals after winning their respective qualifying ties over the weekend.
Great Britain defeated Ecuador 3-0 in London, while Germany secured its place in the final eight with a victory over Croatia. Spain also completed a 3-0 win against Chile to book its place in the finals.
The Davis Cup Final 8 will be held in Bologna, Italy, from November 24 to 29.
Britain Complete 3-0 Win Over Ecuador
Henry Patten and Neal Skupski sealed Britain’s victory with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Ecuador’s Diego Hidalgo and Gonzalo Escobar in the doubles match.
The British pair took control with a break in the first set before securing another break in the ninth game of the second set and serving out the match.
Britain had already taken a 2-0 lead in the singles matches on Saturday.
Toby Samuel defeated Andres Andrade, while Arthur Fery beat Wimbledon semi-finalist Alvaro Guillen Meza to put Britain within reach of qualification.
Zverev Leads Germany to Finals
Alexander Zverev helped Germany secure its place in the Davis Cup Finals with a straight-sets victory over Croatia’s Dino Prizmic.
The world number two defeated the 103rd-ranked Croatian 6-2, 6-4 in 77 minutes in Halle.
Zverev broke his opponent three times and did not face a break point during the match.
Germany had also won the opening singles match on Saturday, when Zverev defeated Matej Dodig.
Croatia briefly levelled the tie with a win from Prizmic, but Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz won the doubles match to restore Germany’s advantage.
Spain Complete 3-0 Victory
Spain also secured qualification with a 3-0 win over Chile in Santiago.
Jaume Munar and Pedro Martinez defeated Tomas Barrios Vera and Alejandro Tabilo 6-0, 6-3 in the doubles match.
Spain’s qualification had been set up by singles victories from Daniel Merida and 20-year-old Rafael Jodar on Saturday.
The result means Spain will reach the final stage of the Davis Cup for the third consecutive year.
Final 8 Line-Up Confirmed
Britain, Germany and Spain join defending champions and hosts Italy in the Davis Cup Finals.
The Czech Republic, South Korea, Austria and Canada have also secured places in the eight-team final stage.
The Final 8 will take place in Bologna from November 24 to 29, with the teams competing for the Davis Cup title.
