Canada Defeats Uzbekistan 2-0 in International Friendly Ahead of World Cup

Canada secured a 2-0 victory over Uzbekistan in an international friendly match as part of its preparations for upcoming international competitions.

Veteran midfielder Jonathan Osorio played a key role in the win, scoring Canada’s opening goal in the 58th minute. The goal marked his 10th international strike and his first for the national team since 2023. Osorio made his 90th appearance for Canada in the match.

Substitute Jayden Nelson added a second goal during stoppage time to seal the victory. Forward Tani Oluwaseyi contributed assists on both goals, helping Canada maintain control throughout the second half.

Canada also faced some injury concerns during the match. Defender Moïse Bombito was substituted in the first half after experiencing discomfort and was later evaluated by the team’s medical staff. The defender had recently returned to international action following a previous injury.

The team had already received a setback after midfielder Marcelo Flores suffered a knee injury while representing his club in a recent regional competition.

Canada’s coaching staff will continue to assess player fitness and squad options as preparations continue for future international fixtures. The performance against Uzbekistan provided several players with an opportunity to showcase their abilities and strengthen their case for selection in upcoming tournaments.
