Dahani Likely to Replace Hasan Ali in Pakistan Test Squad

Report: Imran Sohail

Fast bowler Shahnawaz Dahani is being considered as a potential replacement for Hasan Ali in Pakistan’s upcoming Test squad for series against West Indies and England.

The Pakistan men’s red-ball squad is currently undergoing an intensive training camp at the LCCA Ground. Team selectors and management are closely monitoring players’ fitness levels and recent performances before finalizing the squad.

A total of 22 players are currently part of the camp, while a 17-member squad is expected to be announced for the upcoming five-Test assignments.

According to reports, Hasan Ali is unlikely to be selected and is also not part of the ongoing training camp. Dahani has emerged as one of the fast bowling options under consideration for inclusion in the final squad.

Hasan Ali has represented Pakistan in 27 Test matches, taking 88 wickets, including six five-wicket hauls. However, selectors are reportedly considering changes following recent performances and team requirements.

Other fast bowlers, including Shaheen Afridi and Noman Ali, are also expected to miss selection, while Mohammad Ali and Obaid Shah are among the new names being evaluated.

Shahnawaz Dahani, who has previously represented Pakistan in white-ball cricket, is yet to make his Test debut. If selected, this would be his first opportunity in the longest format of the game.

The selection committee is expected to finalize the squad after completing consultations based on performances observed during the camp.

Pakistan is scheduled to tour the West Indies from July 13, where they will play a four-day warm-up match starting July 18. The two-match Test series will take place in Trinidad and Tobago from July 25–29 and August 2–6.

Following this, Pakistan’s Test tour of England will begin on August 19 at Headingley, followed by matches at Lord’s on August 27 and Edgbaston on September 9.
