FC Dallas Beat Minnesota United 2-1 After Late Moreno Goal
Sports Correspondent: Imran Sohail
FC Dallas secured a 2-1 victory over Minnesota United on Wednesday night after Santiago Moreno scored a late winner in the 84th minute.
The result extended Minnesota United’s difficult run at home, with the club now without a victory in its last nine matches at Allianz Field.
Kaick Opens Scoring for Dallas
FC Dallas took the lead in the 62nd minute through Kaick Ferreira, who is commonly known as Kaick.
The forward finished a first-time effort after receiving a pass from Joaquín Valiente to give Dallas the advantage.
Dallas entered the match in strong form, having suffered only two defeats in its previous 11 games.
Yeboah Brings Minnesota Level
Minnesota United responded in the 73rd minute when Kelvin Yeboah found the net to make it 1-1.
Yeboah initially struck the left post with an effort from near the six-yard box before reacting quickly to score from the rebound.
The goal marked his fourth in as many matches and his 12th of the season.
Moreno Seals Late Victory
Dallas regained the lead six minutes from full time when Moreno finished a quick counterattack.
Samuel Sarver delivered the ball toward the top of the penalty area, where Moreno moved between two defenders before beating goalkeeper Drake Callender from close range.
The goal completed Dallas’ comeback victory and strengthened its position after another positive result on the road.
Musa Misses Match Through Injury
FC Dallas were without forward Petar Musa, who was sidelined with an upper-body injury.
Musa had entered the match with 18 goals from 18 starts this season, putting him level with Lionel Messi for the highest scoring total in MLS at that stage. Messi also leads the league in assists with 12.
Minnesota United, meanwhile, remain on a difficult home run. Their only victory in the nine matches since the World Cup break came in a 5-1 away win over San Jose on August 22.
Minnesota’s previous home victory came on April 18, when they defeated Portland 2-0.
Minnesota had previously defeated Dallas 1-0 in their meeting in Dallas on April 22.
