FPSC Clarifies Reports on CSS Applicant Numbers
The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) has responded to recent reports regarding a decline in the number of Central Superior Services (CSS) applicants, stating that the perception of a significant drop in candidate interest is not supported by the full set of available data.
According to the commission, comparisons between applicant numbers from different years should take into account changes in the examination process and all stages of recruitment.
FPSC Highlights MPT Registration Figures
The FPSC stated that 64,081 candidates registered for the Multiple Choice Questions Based Preliminary Test (MPT) in 2025, describing this as an indication that interest in the CSS examination remains strong among aspiring candidates.
Officials said that focusing only on written examination applications without considering MPT registrations may present an incomplete picture.
CSS 2025 Examination Statistics
According to the commission, the CSS 2025 examination recorded the following figures:
- 64,081 candidates registered for the MPT screening test.
- 18,139 candidates submitted applications for the written examination.
- 12,792 candidates appeared in the written exam.
- 354 candidates qualified for the next stage.
- 342 candidates were declared eligible after interviews.
- 170 candidates were finally recommended for appointment to various government services.
FPSC Responds to Recent Reports
The commission stated that media reports comparing only selected statistics from previous years did not fully reflect the complete recruitment process.
According to the FPSC, the large number of MPT registrations demonstrates that the CSS examination continues to attract substantial interest from young people seeking careers in Pakistan’s civil services.
The commission reiterated that the CSS examination remains one of the country’s most competitive recruitment processes for appointments to various federal government departments.
