The federal government has announced a three-day public holiday for Eid-al-Adha from May 26 to May 28.

According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division Pakistan and shared by state media APP on social platforms, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved the holidays from Tuesday to Thursday.

The official holiday period will include May 26, May 27, and May 28, allowing citizens time to observe Eid-al-Adha and complete related preparations.

Eid-al-Adha is expected to be observed on May 27 (Wednesday) in Pakistan, following the announcement by the Ruet-i-Hilal Committee Pakistan after confirmation of the Zilhaj moon sighting.

Moon sighting reports were received from several cities including Karachi, as well as areas in Sindh, Mardan, Rawalpindi, and Peshawar.

Eid-al-Adha is observed on the 10th of Zilhaj and marks the culmination of Hajj, one of the five pillars of Islam.

The festival is celebrated across the country with special prayers, family gatherings, and the traditional ritual of animal sacrifice, symbolizing faith and devotion.
