Govt Announces Merit-Based Recruitment for Principals and Headmasters

The School Education Department has announced a new merit-based recruitment process for key administrative positions in government schools, including Headmaster, Senior Headmaster, and Principal posts in high and higher secondary institutions.


🖥️ Online Applications Through HRMS Portal

According to officials, eligible teachers are invited to apply through the Human Resource Management System (HRMS) online portal.

The department emphasized that the entire selection process will be transparent, competitive, and merit-based, involving written tests and interviews.


📋 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for different posts must meet the required qualifications, including:

  • Headmaster (Grade 17)
  • Senior Headmaster (Grade 18)
  • Principal (Grades 19 and 20)

A minimum of five years of teaching or administrative experience is mandatory for all applicants.


🧠 Selection Process

Applicants will go through a structured selection procedure, which includes:

  • Written test covering:
    • Basic IT skills
    • Government rules and regulations
    • Teaching competencies
  • Interview for shortlisted candidates

Only those who pass the written test will be called for interviews.

  • Applications will only be accepted online via the HRMS portal
  • No postal or manual applications will be considered
  • Last date to apply is June 17
  • No TA/DA will be provided for test or interview attendance
