Govt Replaces Free Electricity Facility for Senior Power Division Officers
The federal government has introduced a new payment system for senior officers of the Power Division, replacing the previous facility that provided a specified number of electricity units free of charge.
Under the revised arrangement, officers from BS-17 to BS-21 will receive a fixed payment calculated at Rs30 per unit instead of free electricity.
New Payment Structure
The revised amounts for different grades are as follows:
- BS-17: Rs15,858 for 450 units
- BS-18: Rs21,990 for 600 units
- BS-19: Rs37,594 against the previous allowance of 880 units
- BS-20: Rs46,992 against the previous allowance of 1,100 units
- BS-21: Rs55,536
The change follows the discontinuation of free electricity benefits in accordance with a High Court ruling.
The Power Division has issued a notification formally ending the previous electricity facility and introducing the new payment mechanism.
Under the earlier arrangement, eligible Power Division officers were entitled to a fixed number of electricity units without direct payment. The new system will instead provide them with a corresponding monetary amount.
