Pakistan’s T20 Tour of Bangladesh Set for Late July
LAHORE: The Pakistan men’s cricket team is set to return to international action with a three-match T20I series in Bangladesh, with the tentative schedule now reportedly finalized.
According to Abdul Ghaffar, Head of Dawn Sports, the T20Is are scheduled for July 20, 22, and 24. While official confirmation regarding match venues and timings is still awaited from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the dates have been internally locked in, marking Pakistan’s return to Bangladesh nearly two months after hosting the Tigers on home soil.
Key World Cup Preparation Opportunity
This series presents a crucial opportunity for both teams to fine-tune their T20 squads in the lead-up to the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup. For Pakistan, it will also be the first overseas assignment under the guidance of head coach Mike Hesson, who began his tenure with a convincing 3-0 home series win over Bangladesh earlier this month.
Squad Selection and Player Updates
Currently, Pakistan’s national players are participating in a skills development camp in Lahore, which is expected to serve as the talent pool for the upcoming tour. The final squad is likely to be announced in the coming weeks.
According to early reports:
-
Shaheen Shah Afridi is expected to make his return to the squad.
-
Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan may continue to rest, as the coaching staff prioritizes grooming young talent.
What’s Next?
The PCB is expected to release the official tour schedule shortly, including venue details and broadcast timings. With both teams seeking to build momentum ahead of major international events, the series promises to be an exciting contest for fans across the region.
