Iran Says National Team Preparing for World Cup Participation in United States
Iran’s government has stated that its men’s national football team is preparing for what it described as a “proud and successful participation” in the upcoming FIFA World Cup in the United States.
A government spokesperson said the team is continuing its preparations under the direction of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, despite ongoing regional tensions.
Team Preparation Continues
According to officials, the national squad remains focused on training and international readiness ahead of the tournament, which is scheduled to begin on June 11 in North America.
Iran’s participation had previously been uncertain due to regional security developments following military tensions earlier in the year. However, government statements indicate that preparations are continuing as planned.
FIFA Position on Participation
Football governing body FIFA has consistently maintained that Iran will take part in the tournament as scheduled and has not approved any changes to the match locations.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino has also held meetings with Iranian football officials and players in recent months to review preparations and ensure tournament arrangements remain on track.
Training and Team Activity
Despite disruptions in domestic football activities, reports indicate that the national team has resumed training sessions in Tehran. Images shared by team sources show players preparing for upcoming international fixtures.
World Cup Outlook
The FIFA World Cup, set to be hosted across the United States, Mexico, and Canada, remains on schedule. Iran is expected to compete in group-stage matches in North America as part of the tournament lineup
