Islamabad Selected for Pakistan’s First World-Class Wildlife Safari Park
ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has finalized the location for Pakistan’s first world-class wildlife safari park, with the landmark project planned in the Malpur Forestry Park area near Bara Kahu and Murree Road.
Spread across nearly 350 acres, the proposed safari park aims to promote wildlife conservation, eco-tourism, environmental education and family-friendly recreation in the federal capital.
Natural Forest to Be Preserved
According to CDA officials, the project will be developed within an existing forest area while protecting the natural landscape and wildlife habitat. Authorities say the park will be designed with a strong focus on environmental sustainability and biodiversity conservation.
The feasibility study and conceptual design have already been completed, and the project is expected to move into the tendering phase before construction begins.
Multiple Safari Zones Planned
The master plan includes space for approximately 3,600 animals across 10 themed safari and wildlife zones, designed to recreate natural habitats for different species.
One of the park’s main attractions will be a 1,000-kanal ungulate safari, featuring wildlife viewing areas, guided safari tours, nature trails and a glass soft-wheel train for visitors.
A separate 180-kanal big cat zone is planned for animals such as lions, tigers, bears, hyenas and African wild dogs, with dedicated habitats for each species.
Additional wildlife areas are expected to accommodate animals including elephants, rhinos, crocodiles and hippos in specially designed conservation zones.
Modern Animal Care Facilities
The proposed development also includes a 100-kanal Wildlife Care Complex equipped with international-standard veterinary, treatment and quarantine facilities.
A dedicated Safari Park Veterinary Clinic will support animal healthcare, conservation and rehabilitation efforts.
Visitor Attractions and Eco-Tourism
The safari park will feature a wide range of visitor facilities, including a Safari Pavilion for ticketing and information, along with a 400-kanal Safari Village offering accommodation, restaurants and recreational spaces.
Plans also include a themed food street connected to Murree Road, featuring a variety of dining options for visitors.

- Jungle-themed play area
- Nature trails and scenic sitting spaces
- Koi fish pond
- Zipline adventure
- Natural lake with bridge walkways

Boost for Tourism and Conservation
CDA officials believe the project will become one of Pakistan’s leading eco-tourism destinations, attracting local and international visitors while promoting wildlife conservation, environmental awareness and sustainable tourism.
