KARACHI: Flour prices have remained elevated across several cities in Pakistan, with Karachi recording the highest price for a 20-kilogram flour bag, according to recent data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

The official figures show that the maximum price of a 20kg flour bag has reached Rs. 2,800 in Karachi, making it the most expensive major city for flour consumers.

Among other urban centers, flour prices were reported at Rs. 2,750 in Peshawar, Rs. 2,733 in Islamabad, and Rs. 2,707 in Rawalpindi. In Quetta and Bannu, a 20kg flour bag was available for around Rs. 2,700.

The data also indicates varying prices across the country. Consumers in Hyderabad were paying approximately Rs. 2,600 per bag, while prices stood at Rs. 2,400 in Khuzdar and Larkana.

In Punjab, flour prices were comparatively lower, with rates recorded at Rs. 2,350 in Faisalabad, Rs. 2,333 in Gujranwala, and Rs. 2,267 in Multan.

Lahore reported the lowest flour price among major cities, where a 20kg flour bag was available for around Rs. 2,250.

Market observers note that flour prices continue to vary across regions due to differences in transportation costs, supply conditions, and local market dynamics. Consumers are closely monitoring prices as food costs remain an important concern for households nationwide.
