Karakoram Highway Closed at Multiple Points After Landslides and Heavy Rain
Heavy rainfall, landslides, and mudflows have disrupted traffic on the Karakoram Highway, forcing authorities to close several sections of the road for all types of vehicles.
According to the National Highway Authority (NHA), the highway remains completely blocked between Boshidas and Tatta Pani due to debris and unsafe travel conditions.
The closure has affected passenger movement as well as freight transportation, creating delays for travelers and transport operators using the important route.
Clearance Work Underway
The NHA said heavy machinery has been deployed to the affected areas to remove mud, rocks, and debris from the road. Emergency restoration work is currently underway on a priority basis.
Officials stated that ongoing rain and unstable weather conditions are making clearance operations more challenging.
Travelers Advised to Stay Updated
Authorities have advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel in the affected region and check road conditions before beginning their journey.
Weather-related disruptions continue to impact several northern areas, and officials are monitoring the situation closely to restore traffic flow as soon as possible.
