Meghan Markle Criticized for Upstaging Kate Middleton with Planned Colombia Tour
Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, is facing criticism for allegedly overshadowing Kate Middleton with her upcoming tour to Colombia alongside Prince Harry. The tour, which has been described as a “faux Royal tour,” is focused on causes closely aligned with those championed by Kate, particularly child welfare.
Royal expert Tom Quinn revealed that Harry and Meghan were drawn to the idea of this tour because Colombia is set to host the Global Conference on Ending Violence Against Children later this year. Meghan sees this as an opportunity to boost the profile of the Archwell Foundation, which has been recognized for its commitment to children’s welfare by Colombia’s vice president.
Quinn also mentioned that Colombia’s Prime Minister, Francia Márquez, extended the invitation to the couple, praising their Archwell Foundation for its efforts in creating a safer online environment for children. This recognition is likely a significant motivator for Meghan.
However, this move has reportedly caused some frustration among palace officials in the UK, who feel that Meghan and Harry are once again trying to divert attention from Kate Middleton. Kate has long been dedicated to child welfare, a cause central to her role within the royal family, and some see Meghan’s actions as an attempt to compete with or overshadow Kate’s efforts.
