wo members of K-pop group Blackpink go solo at Coachella festival

Lisa and Jennie of BLACKPINK Shine as Solo Artists at Coachella 2025

K-pop superstars Lisa and Jennie, members of the globally acclaimed group BLACKPINK, captivated audiences with their solo performances at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival 2025, held over the weekend in Indio, California.

Taking the stage on Friday and Sunday, Lisa and Jennie each showcased their distinct musical styles, marking a new chapter in their individual careers while reinforcing the continued global appeal of K-pop.

Lisa Debuts Solo Album “Alter Ego”

Wowing fans with her energetic stage presence, Lisa performed her solo track “Drop Some Money” in a striking red ensemble under matching red lights. The performance, blending bold choreography with high-energy beats, received enthusiastic applause from festival-goers.

Lisa’s Coachella appearance comes on the heels of her debut solo studio album “Alter Ego”, released in 2025 under RCA Records, a label of Sony Music. The album features 15 tracks with a mix of hip-hop, electropop, and trap, and includes collaborations with top global artists such as Raye, Doja Cat, Tyla, Rosalía, Future, and Megan Thee Stallion.

Originally from Thailand, Lisa departed from YG Entertainment in 2023 but remains a part of BLACKPINK under Interscope Records. In addition to her music, she has made her acting debut in the upcoming season of the Max original series “The White Lotus.”

Jennie Continues to Evolve as a Solo Artist

Fellow BLACKPINK member Jennie also lit up the Coachella stage with her unique blend of music and charisma. Known for her debut single “Solo” released in 2018, Jennie has been carving out her own musical identity while remaining a key part of BLACKPINK.

Jennie’s solo career also includes an entry into acting, having starred in the Max series “The Idol” in 2023. Her appearance at Coachella highlighted her continued influence in both music and entertainment.

Coachella Embraces More K-Pop Acts

BLACKPINK has made Coachella history twice, first in 2019 as the first female-led K-pop group to perform at the festival, and again in 2023 as the first K-pop act to headline the event.

This year, Coachella continued its celebration of Korean music with performances from groups like Enhypen, a seven-member boy band, and XG (Xtraordinary Girls), a Japanese girl group based in South Korea.

Since Epik High’s trailblazing Coachella appearance in 2016, the festival has welcomed a growing lineup of K-pop artists, including Aespa, DPR (Dream Perfect Regime), LE SSERAFIM, ATEEZ, and The Rose.

Global Rise of K-Pop

The rising presence of K-pop artists at major global festivals like Coachella reflects the genre’s increasing influence across the world. With their successful solo debuts, Lisa and Jennie continue to pave the way for new K-pop talent while expanding their individual artistic journeys.
