Korda and Cowan Near Lead at LPGA Team Event; Inkster Makes History at 66

MIDLAND, Michigan — Nelly Korda continued her strong form following her recent major victory as she teamed up with Olivia Cowan of Germany at the Dow Championship. The pair are just two shots behind the leaders after Friday’s round at Midland Country Club.

Korda, the U.S. Women’s Open champion, and Cowan recorded an impressive round of 60 in the fourball format. Their performance moved them close to the top of the leaderboard as the tournament heads into the weekend.

The lead is currently held by Polly Mack and Celine Borge, who also posted a strong 60 to reach 12-under 128. They moved ahead of the Japanese duo Ayaka Furue and Yuna Nishimura, who shot 61.

A notable highlight of the tournament is veteran golfer Juli Inkster, who made history by becoming the oldest player to make the cut at age 66. Inkster teamed up with 27-year-old Angel Yin to post a 68 and advance to the weekend rounds.

“I’m happy I played,” Inkster said. “Sometimes you just have to put yourself out there, and I felt good about my performance this week.”

Korda said she enjoyed the relaxed team format and the opportunity to build on her recent success.

“We just wanted to go out and have fun, and that’s when we play our best,” she said. “Last week was great, and this week has been a nice follow-up.”

The tournament continues over the weekend with the leading teams closely matched heading into the final rounds.
