Lahore Rooftop Demand Rises as Basant 2027 Dates Announced
Demand for rooftops in Lahore has increased following the Punjab government’s announcement of the revised dates for Basant 2027, with residents already looking for suitable locations to enjoy the festival.
The historic Walled City is reportedly seeing increased interest in rooftop spaces, as families and groups begin making plans for the extended celebrations. Some rooftop owners have also started preparing their properties ahead of the expected rise in demand.
Reports from the previous Basant season showed that rooftop rentals in central Lahore could reach very high levels, particularly for spacious and well-located properties in the Walled City.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved a 10-day Basant celebration in Lahore from January 29 to February 7, 2027. Celebrations will remain suspended on February 5 in observance of Kashmir Day.
The revised schedule replaces the earlier plan for a three-day Basant festival from March 12 to 14, 2027. The government has directed relevant departments to begin preparations in advance for the extended celebrations.
Authorities have also been asked to focus on public safety and convenience during the festival. Citizens have been urged to follow the applicable kite-flying regulations and celebrate responsibly.
The announcement has prompted early planning among Lahore residents, particularly those looking for rooftops with enough space and suitable safety arrangements for Basant activities.
With the festival now scheduled for 10 days, demand for suitable rooftop locations is expected to remain a key part of preparations across Lahore in the months leading up to Basant 2027.
