Many Pakistanis Set to Enjoy Three-Day Weekend in August 2026

Many people in Pakistan are expected to enjoy a three-day weekend in August 2026, as Independence Day (August 14) falls on a Friday, creating an extended break for those following a five-day work or academic schedule.

According to the 2026 calendar, August 14 will be observed as a public holiday across the country in celebration of Pakistan’s Independence Day.

Employees in government and private organizations that operate from Monday to Friday, as well as students attending educational institutions with a five-day schedule, are expected to receive Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off, giving them three consecutive holidays.

However, the extended weekend will not apply to everyone. Employees and students at organizations and institutions that follow a six-day schedule, operating from Monday to Saturday, are expected to resume their regular activities on Saturday after the public holiday on Friday.

Pakistan observes Independence Day each year on August 14 with flag-hoisting ceremonies, cultural programs, community events, and celebrations held across the country.

For many people following a five-day workweek, this year’s calendar provides an opportunity to enjoy an extended weekend while taking part in Independence Day festivities or spending time with family and friends.
