Mohsin Naqvi Urges PTI to Reconsider September 27 Protest
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has urged Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to reconsider its planned nationwide protest and march towards Islamabad on September 27.
Speaking at a press briefing on Monday, Naqvi said the government had conveyed its concerns to the PTI and advised the party to avoid proceeding with the planned mobilisation.
The PTI has announced protests across the country and a march towards Islamabad, with the party seeking the release of its founder, Imran Khan, among its stated demands.
Government Warns of Action
Naqvi said the government would take necessary steps if the PTI proceeded with the September 27 protest.
The interior minister also referred to an Islamabad High Court order, saying the government would ensure that the court’s directions are implemented.
He urged the PTI leadership and its workers to consider an alternative approach and avoid actions that could lead to further difficulties.
PTI Maintains Protest Plan
The PTI has continued preparations for the September 27 mobilisation. Party representatives have described the planned demonstrations as a campaign focused on constitutional rights, rule of law and the release of Imran Khan.
Opposition representatives have also said that any decision to postpone the protest would require consultation with Imran Khan.
Security Preparations Underway
Authorities in Islamabad and surrounding areas have started making security arrangements ahead of the planned demonstrations. Police and administrative officials have been reviewing measures related to traffic, public movement and security in the capital.
With the September 27 date approaching, the government and PTI remain at odds over the planned protest, while authorities continue preparations for the expected political activity.
