ISLAMABAD: Monal Restaurant, a renowned dining spot in Islamabad known for its breathtaking views and varied menu, will be closing permanently in September. The closure is mandated by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
According to a recent social media post from Monal Restaurant, the establishment will shut down on September 11, 2024. The post cited the Supreme Court’s decision, which ordered the closure of all eateries in Margalla Hills National Park. This decision came after the court rejected a report from the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and directed the administration to close these commercial operations within 90 days.
The Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, stated that the national park should not be used for commercial purposes. The court also recommended considering alternative land leasing for the affected restaurants outside the park.
During the proceedings, Chief Justice Isa noted that the court had requested a report on various other establishments, including the Sports Club Pak-China Center and Arts Council National Monument. He expressed concerns about the honesty of CDA officials in their reporting.
