Pakistan Offers Kazakhstan Access to Major Seaports to Boost Regional Trade
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has offered Kazakhstan access to its three major seaports—Karachi Port, Port Qasim, and Gwadar Port—to strengthen regional trade, cargo transit, and maritime cooperation.
The proposal aims to improve connectivity between Pakistan and Central Asian countries by providing Kazakhstan with access to international shipping routes through Pakistan’s port infrastructure.
The development was discussed during a meeting between Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry and Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Yerzhan Kistafin, in Islamabad.
During the meeting, both sides explored opportunities to expand cooperation in maritime transport, shipping, trade facilitation, and regional connectivity.
The maritime minister said Pakistan’s seaports are strategically positioned to serve as transit hubs for Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries, providing access to markets in the Persian Gulf, Africa, and Southeast Asia.
He also expressed Pakistan’s interest in promoting joint ventures in coastal free zones and enhancing collaboration in port operations and logistics.
Officials from both countries emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral economic ties and improving trade links to support regional commerce and long-term economic cooperation.
