Punjab Expands Electric Bus Service to Seven More Districts

LAHORE: The Punjab government has expanded its electric public transport network by launching 77 electric buses across seven additional districts to improve public transportation and promote environmentally friendly travel.

According to the provincial government, the new electric bus service is now available in:

  • Gujrat
  • Narowal
  • Nankana Sahib
  • Vehari
  • Lodhran
  • Sheikhupura
  • Kasur

The expansion is part of Punjab’s ongoing efforts to modernize its public transport system and encourage the use of clean-energy vehicles.

Affordable Public Transport

Officials announced that the fare for the new electric bus service has been set at Rs. 20 per trip, providing an affordable travel option for daily commuters.

Accessible and Modern Fleet

The buses are equipped with several passenger-friendly features, including:

  • Wheelchair ramps
  • Dedicated facilities for senior citizens
  • Improved accessibility for persons with disabilities
  • Modern seating and safety features

Authorities said the new fleet is designed to offer a comfortable, safe, and convenient travel experience for passengers.

Supporting Sustainable Mobility

The provincial government says the expansion of electric buses aims to reduce vehicle emissions, promote cleaner transportation, and improve public mobility in districts outside Punjab’s major cities.

With the latest rollout, residents of the seven districts can now benefit from a modern and affordable public transport service while supporting environmentally sustainable travel.
