Pakistan Railways Reduces Fuel Quota for Officers Under Austerity Measures

Pakistan Railways has introduced several cost-cutting measures as part of the federal government’s ongoing austerity drive.

The measures include a reduction in official fuel allocations, a temporary suspension of house building advance loans, and restrictions on foreign official visits.

50% Cut in Fuel Allocation

Under the new austerity measures, official fuel quotas for Pakistan Railways officers and employees have been reduced by 50 percent.

The fuel allowance allocated to the Railways Minister has also been cut by half.

The department has issued instructions for the immediate implementation of the measures across relevant offices and operations.

House Building Advances Suspended

Pakistan Railways has also suspended house building advance loans until December 31, 2026.

During this period, officers and employees will not be issued new house building advances.

The suspension is part of the department’s efforts to control expenditure and implement the government’s austerity instructions.

Foreign Official Visits Banned

The Railways Minister has further directed that foreign official visits by officers and employees be stopped.

The restrictions are being implemented as part of the broader cost-saving measures announced for government departments.

Pakistan Railways has directed the relevant authorities to ensure compliance with the new instructions.
