Pakistan Railways Sets May 24 Launch for Upgraded Awam Express
Pakistan Railways has announced that the upgraded Awam Express will officially begin operations on May 24, with Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi scheduled to inaugurate the service ahead of Eid ul Adha.
The relaunch is part of a broader effort to modernize Pakistan’s rail network and improve passenger facilities during the busy holiday travel season, when demand for intercity transport increases significantly.
Upgraded Service for Better Travel Experience
According to the railways minister, the Awam Express has been fully upgraded to offer improved comfort, efficiency, and overall service quality. The goal is to provide passengers with a more reliable and modern travel experience compared to the previous service.
He added that the train will complete its route, including travel to Karachi, in less time than before. However, the revised travel duration has not yet been officially disclosed.
Part of Wider Railway Modernization Plan
The minister said the relaunch reflects ongoing efforts to improve Pakistan Railways through safer operations, better facilities, and upgraded passenger services.
He also noted that further improvements and new premium train services are planned from major cities in the coming phases of the reform program.
The government aims to gradually enhance the overall standard of rail travel across the country while expanding convenient and efficient transport options for passengers.
